All The Colour

Bring on all the colour, please! After a summer of neutrals and a very minimalist blog template, presto chango... this gal was ready for a change! Originally I was hoping to save this template for the first day of autumn, but our temperatures are slowly starting to change and I'm ready for all things cozy, like, now! ;) So forgive me for the early blog switch up, but if you've been with me for a while then you know I love me some change. Plus, I was kind of starting to miss a more "traditional" blog layout. Haha, I'm just so old school, ya'll!

As for my dress? Today I'm partnering up with Octer and had such a delightful shopping experience... has anyone shopped there before?! My favourite part is their site provides you with the ability to buy everything in one place, plus they feature hundreds of stores and thousands of brands. You can shop by department, or filter through your most loved stores to find the best product -- which is exactly how I found my dress from Nordstrom for a steal of a deal.

Did everyone have a good weekend? Martin & I celebrated our wedding anniversary and decided to keep it pretty low key. We drove out to Cammidge House in Delta where we were married. So fun, so cute! We walked the grounds, snapped photos and walked down to Boundary Bay to enjoy some ocean time. If you haven't been? It's so beautiful there, very historic and I loved driving past all the farm land. In fact, I'll be back later this week to share photos from our day. Until then, happiest Monday, friends! xo

Heat Wave

Aug 26, 2016

Happy Friday guys! My shopping cart may be full of fall goodies (psst, I just started a shop page featuring them) but we're still in the midst of a major heat wave. It's been hot! So I've been living make-up free, wearing flowy dresses, or my beloved denim shorts. In fact, I can't wait to break them out come fall and pair them with my new ModCloth sweater, tights and a pair of booties!

But fall fashion day-dreams aside we're still in full summer mode. This weekend we'll be checking a few more things off our summer bucket list like visiting a lighthouse and doing a sea-side picnic. I know... I'm such a corn ball, but haha, I love it! ;) Plus, I'm excited to get Martin all to myself again, he's been filming a movie for most of August and our time together has been short. So yay to having my honey home, planning wine dates with girlfriends (yeah, I'm lookin' at you Cee) and enjoying the last few weeks of summer!! xo

Getting Inspired With Sudio Sweden

Happy Wednesday, friends! Today I'm teaming up with Sudio Sweden and excited to share they're offering all G&C readers 15% off when you use promo code: veronika at checkout. When it comes to finding style inspiration?! Having great music while I'm on the go, or creating blog content is a key part of thinking up new ideas as well as keeping myself energized. I chose the Vasa BLÅ in Rose Gold White and adore both the beautiful design and listening quality. You can expect 8 hours of wireless listening or take calls with the built in microphone + control your phone with the remote. If you're a gal on the go, or a music buff like me, you will honestly love these. Mine never leave my side!

Rocky Point Ice Cream

This is my second "adventure" post this summer and I've honestly missed them so much. Going on day trips, exploring & taking photos is hands down my most favourite thing and I'm typically grinning like a fool for all of it! In fact, I just started a new category in my top navigation menu called "trips" and I can't wait to fill it with our summer and fall memories. If there's one thing my health issues have taught me... it's to seize the day and do what you love!

So for this fall? I'll be doing exactly that! I've started booking trips, styling cozy & fall hued outfits, and I can't wait to make this space the best it's ever been. I'm honestly feeling a little giddy lately and like I've had a new lease on life. It feels good, so good!

Also, can you believe we're in the final stretch of summer? I hope to make the most of the next four weeks though. I'm still hoping to spend a day by our pool, visit a lighthouse & historic town, take a day trip to Cultus Lake and visit one of our neighbouring islands. Fingers crossed we'll get through our summer list! As for this past weekend?! We ventured to Rocky Point Ice Cream, which is located steps from the pier, includes hiking trails, bike trails and a skate park. In fact, many moons ago, Martin & I photographed a look at the skate park "Graffiti Walls" -- haha so funny looking back. Have a great week everyone! xo

Midi Skirts + Brunch Dates

Aug 18, 2016

This is hands down one of my favourite summer outfits, perfect for a day of brunching & coffee sips. Or for a night out with my love! I currently have my eye on two gorgeous midi's from Modcloth as well, this one & this one and I love this one from Banana Republic! When it comes to skirt lengths?! I love wearing midi's in the summer, then switching to shorter lengths in the fall and pairing them with tights & booties -- a style I love!

I'm also (yay!) resurrecting my YouTube channel later this month and can't wait to be back. Finally! Like a dum, dum I deleted my old account accidentally and left it at that. But I miss connecting with you guys via video (love the more intimate vibe it lends) so I'll be back at it later this month!! I'll be kicking things off with a hair tips video, marriage video... and would love to hear your suggestions as well. Tell me friends, what are your favourite videos to watch?! xo

Old Orchard Park

This past weekend, my love & I took a day trip to Old Orchard Park in Port Moody (one of our favourite local spots) and it felt so lovely! We've sadly had to take a pause on our summer trips mainly because my health's been so up & down, but we're hoping to at least take a few shorter day trips this August & September. And then, hello fall, I'm not going to lie... floppy hats, pumpkins and the promise of crunching leaves is getting me VERY excited!!

Also how darling are my new boat style shoes from Union Jack Boots? I've wanted a pair for ages, ever since spotting a similar pair on Kate Middleton and these Vans ones are so good. I also love the navy chauffettes they'd look perfect with a school boy blazer, simple tank and skinnies. Preppy perfection! xo

70's Inspired Summer Style

Oh hey, look who's back, dressed and not on bed rest. Me, me!!! I was so thrilled to wake up the other day and actually have enough energy to pull myself out of bed, get dressed and go on a little me-date. I loved it and felt like a brand new gal! And speaking of brand new gal? I also bought a MacBook Air to replace my 2009 MacBook Pro and love, love it! Especially since I'm more mobile and can throw it in my bag, go to a coffee shop and get a bit of work done. Or, better yet, work by our pool! ;)

As for my outfit? While I'm usually one to shy away from showing my curvy figure... I just bought new AE High Rise skinnies and absolutely love the look! I'm already re-imagining my outfit for a soon-to-be date night, but would love to swap out my skinnies for denim shorts, add a slouchy boyfriend cardigan and booties. Cute, cute, right?! And if you're looking for a rad pair of statement sunglasses + at a great price point? You can nab mine (or almost identical one's) here. I love how they elevate even the simplest of looks! xo

My Summer Beauty Routine

Aug 10, 2016

As promised in Monday's gratitude post I'm back and chatting about summer beauty. When it comes to my summer beauty routine? Less is definitely more, plus I prefer products which are light, promote a health glow and fit into my "10 minutes" or less make-up mantra. If you'd like to see these products in action? Click over to my Summer Uniform post! Let's jump on in, shall we?

Step One: I start off my "glowy" look by exfoliating & moisturizing my face and applying my Origins GinZing Eye-Cream. And if I need a little extra coverage? I add a dab of BB cream to my moisturizer. This alone, gives my skin a gorgeous glow!

Step Two: I then add an additional dose of radiance with my Too Faced Luminous Bronzer. I'm basically obsessed, mainly because it adds glow but still manages to look completely natural. I apply mine to the apples of my cheeks, then lightly to my forehead, nose and chin.

Step Three: I dab L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Hourglass Beige over my eyelids and do a quick swipe of mascara. I actually just replaced my Stila Eyeshadow in Kitten with this L'Oreal one (I was feeling cheap, haha) and must say it does not disappoint. In fact, I prefer it because it's a little bit more subtle.

Step Four: For my finishing spray, I use Triple Oxygen by Bliss and love the glow it adds. If you haven't tried it? I highly recommend it. So, so good!

Step Five: I apply Lancôme's Colour Fever Gloss in Paradise Peach, which I absolutely love, it's shimmery and the most perfect "your lips but better" shade.

There your have it friends, my best tips for glowing skin and getting that fresh faced summer look, and as always, would love to hear your recommendations too! xo

Gratitude

Aug 8, 2016

Holding onto gratitude when life lives gives you lemons is no easy feat my friends. I'll be the first to admit, the past few months have challenged my resiliency over-and-over and I've found myself ready to throw in the towel, and admit defeat (in regards to my health) on more than a handful of occasions. Negative thoughts dimmed my light and I haste-fully cowered beneath them. Seeing perfectly curated images, I must say, didn't exactly help either. Knowing I "should" be living life to the fullest, but can't, is an unfortunate reminder of all I've lost.

But that's the funny thing about life, isn't it? We can't have it all! Through this season (however long it may be) I'm reminded happiness isn't found in seeking perfection, but rather, it's up to us to choose joy in-spite of life's imperfections. That belief, right there, has helped me immensely. And I hope it shines a little bit of light on your hardships too. So while I work on restoring my health (which I'd love to share about in a blog post or two) I'm learning to dream from a gentler/more realistic place, embrace gratitude and release the shoulds.

So yes, I'm thankful, thankful to be going through hardship. Thankful I'm being challenged to rethink my beliefs, and thankful I have the courage & strength to fight, this fight. While pretty photos may suggest otherwise, I haven't had an easy life, but each challenge has made and shaped me into the women I am today, and for that, I have gratitude. So much gratitude!

With that, thank you for letting me share my heart, and for all your amazing support!! It's my hope to be on here a little more this week, with a beauty post and outfit. But until then, know you're not carrying life's challenges on your own. We're all in this together!! xo
