Summer Uniforms + Discovering Style

Lately, I've noticed my closet dwindling down to only the "essentials" and slowly but surely I'm becoming more of a "uniform" dresser and I love it. Most days you'll either find me in a simple dress, neutral silk blouse & skinnies, a pump or strappy sandals. What I love most about simplicity is from there it's so easy to add a luxurious cardigan, statement necklace, or designer pump and create an entirely different look. I like to think of my "uniform" as a blank canvas, if you will, and love the ease with which I create my outfits + know they work because I'm reaching for pieces that are tried & true. “Minimalism is not subtraction for the sake of subtraction. Minimalism is subtraction for the sake of focus!” -- aberMinimal

If you're wondering how a capsule wardrobe and uniform differ? I'd say the main difference is the lack of rules and ban on shopping. Typically in a month, I add 1-2 new pieces (favouring higher price points) to one or more of my curated outfits, and I currently have 5 in total. Going slow is definitely favourable as it keeps the experience a little more organic and I don't feel overwhelmed. As the quote above so eloquently states “Minimalism is not subtraction for the sake of subtraction. Minimalism is subtraction for the sake of focus!” and I couldn't agree more! xo

I'm all kinds of excited for Friday and the weekend! The past few weeks have been kicking my butt again (health wise) and I'm desperately needing to rest + slow my schedule. Dealing with CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) means even a shower and making breakfast can sap me of my energy most days, and now, sadly, it's causing my psoriasis to flare up. Oh man, I'm trying not to feel overwhelmed, but there's no denying I'm mostly overwhelmed. So I'm giving myself permission to take baby steps, not overload my plate and simplify.

And speaking of simplifying... I uploaded a new template from BlogMilk (excuse us, while we work out the kinks) and love it. It's so inline with all I'm craving at the moment, and happy for the bigger images too. With that, happiest weekend friends, and enjoy the links below! xo

Easy Tunics And Skinny Jeans

Jul 12, 2016

I'm obsessed with effortless tunics and skinny jeans for summer -- especially when paired with tousled hair and strappy sandals. Mine's from SheIn and currently on sale for a steal of a price! It would also pair beautifully with white distressed jeans, or could be worn as a mini-dress for a night out (for reference I'm 5'9"). I also have my eye on a few more tunics for this summer & fall, love this one and this one, oooh and this one! What's your favourite summer uniform?!

Hello, feels so good to be back, I've missed you guys!! A few things to note, I've added a "read more" feature to all blog posts and categories now automatically archive in a magazine style layout. Check it out here -- it's worth the peek! ;) Lastly, in addition to my usual style posts you can also expect to see a few new categories pop up later this month... like home decor, beauty and clean living recipes. Yay!

And if you're on the hunt for the perfect striped shirt? This drop sleeve is to die for, as is this linen one, or this one and this one! Mine is a recent purchase from J.Crew and so far I've paired it with my denim shorts, silk midi and here with my jeans. Other than that, this past weekend was perf, we celebrated Canada Day, sipped rosé on our deck and took in all the summer vibes! xo
