Cami's & Studded Flats

Yup I caved! My bangs are back. I was so nervous about cutting them and thought I'd regret it - but nope, I'm loving them. At the end of the day I'm just more of a bangs girl... either blunt or just a little longer and worn off to the side. I find they give my hair instant polish, and help with my morning routine; my hair's way less high maintenance this way. Ok, can we just take a moment and do a "yay, it's spring" happy dance?! I've been feeling so much more upbeat... I'm feeling excited for spring fashion, new goals, getting fit + loosing those pesky 5 pounds, and work... I have a slew of Stella & Dot parties lined up. Whoot!

Say hello to my new and beloved Zara flats. I'm pretty certain you'll be seeing a lot of them on the blog. Consider yourselves warned! I've really been enjoying wearing statement/edgier shoes lately... since I like simple & classic looks, I find a funky shoe or statement jewelry lends a pop of something unexpected to my everyday outfits. This spring, I hope to take more risks with my accessories and add more of a fun vibe to my looks! What about you guys, how do you like to liven up a basic outfit? I'd love to hear your tips...

SPRING FAVOURITES

Hello! Thanks for the dentist well wishes, guys. I'm doing not too bad (thank goodness) but I'm definitley looking a little swollen. So, I thought this would be the perfect time to look back at some of my favourite springtime outfits. I'm getting incredibly excited for the new season and to see where my style goes. This week, I'm taking the plunge and going back to red, however, this time I'll be choosing a more ginger/light auburn hue. I hope to go a little more bohemian with my outfits as well: loads of delicate layered jewelry, silky camisoles, skinnies, and mix it up with edgy Zara flats. I also have my eye on pretty patterned scarves and laid back maxi dresses. I can't wait! Where do you see your style going for this spring?!...

Everyday Style, Stripes & Leather

I've decided to borrow a little inspiration from Jen of Jen Loves Kev, and re-name my "look-book" posts to "my everyday style"... although, I still dress up here and there, the blog has become much more focused around my weekend/downtime outfits, and the new name just felt more fitting. I am however, excited to start injecting more colour and fun pops of accessories to my looks now that spring is approaching. After our long winter, I definitely need a style pick me up!

And speaking of spring?! It felt soooo spring like when we took these photos. I was actually warm - what a welcome change! I hate to sound like a whiner but I'm definitley not a fan of taking outfit photos when it's freezing out. Since it was a fabulously warm day, Martin & I spent much of it outdoors: we walked to the park, sat on the ocean pier, and then came home & cooked together. We made a super healthy tomato, cabbage and vegy soup. Really delicious! I hope to post the recipe for it later this week. And... thank you for all your lovely comments on our wedding photos! Both Martin & I really enjoyed reading through them! You guys are just the sweetest!!

Hello! Oh my goodness, are you guys as excited about daylight savings time as I am?!... I'm loving the longer days and the opportunity for more outfit photos. This winter has not been kind to us Vancouver bloggers - that's for sure! Also, I'm thrilled to have been featured by Bella magazine in a two page spread. Yay! Be sure to pop by for a visit... I just discovered their magazine a few months back and love it! On that note, I'll see you tomorrow for an outfit post. Happy Tuesday, friends!

INSTA LIFE

There's something so wonderful about capturing life's sweet little moments. I know one day we'll love looking back and reminiscing about afternoons spent by the ocean, village ice cream dates, and trips to our favourite sushi restaurant. This past week I've been feeling pretty nostalgic - ever since I sorted through our wedding photos, it's become shockingly obvious at how quickly 8 years can flash before your eyes. As a result, Martin & I have spent our last few evenings talking about our goals as a couple and where we'd like to be in five years. We both agree, between my health problems and our busy work schedules, we've been majorly lacking in the "fun" department. As for our main goals?... We'd like to work towards buying a bigger home, buckle down and start a family, pay off our car & debts, and (my favourite) get away on more trips. I have several planned for this spring/summer and I can't wait to share them with you! On that note, wishing you a lovely weekend, friends, and here are a few of my favourite bits from the past week or so...

OUR WEDDING

Mar 6, 2013

Hello! It's been a little quiet over here this week... Martin was out of town and I spent most of my evenings totally unplugged, and loved it! You know, living in pj's and watching "The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills." Haha, it sounds so bad, but it felt so good! ;) I also finally sorted & edited our wedding photos. Okay, that took an embarrassingly long time considering we were married 8 years ago. I can't wait to surprise Martin with this post and share it with our family overseas. We had a small wedding of about 30 people and rented a heritage house right by the ocean. It was important to us that our wedding be laid-back and down to earth. Neither Martin & I are overly stuffy that way... in fact, I spent much of it bopping around barefoot and sitting on the porch sipping wine with friends. Pretty awesome!

It's hard to put our day into words because I felt so much. I was nervous and excited but mostly beaming. I remember falling more in love with my husband and friends... I think we all walked away feeling like we had shared something so incredibly sweet and special with one another. I can't help but be reminded of the vows that Martin & I took and to not take one day for granted. It's easy to get caught up and distracted by all of life's busyness. But at the end of the day, there's nothing I love more than my family and my commitment to putting them first. I can't wait for a million more adventures with my amazing husband!
