Hello! It's been a little quiet over here this week... Martin was out of town and I spent most of my evenings totally unplugged, and loved it! You know, living in pj's and watching "The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills." Haha, it sounds so bad, but it felt so good! ;) I also finally sorted & edited our wedding photos. Okay, that took an embarrassingly long time considering we were married 8 years ago. I can't wait to surprise Martin with this post and share it with our family overseas. We had a small wedding of about 30 people and rented a heritage house right by the ocean. It was important to us that our wedding be laid-back and down to earth. Neither Martin & I are overly stuffy that way... in fact, I spent much of it bopping around barefoot and sitting on the porch sipping wine with friends. Pretty awesome!
It's hard to put our day into words because I felt so much. I was nervous and excited but mostly beaming. I remember falling more in love with my husband and friends... I think we all walked away feeling like we had shared something so incredibly sweet and special with one another. I can't help but be reminded of the vows that Martin & I took and to not take one day for granted. It's easy to get caught up and distracted by all of life's busyness. But at the end of the day, there's nothing I love more than my family and my commitment to putting them first. I can't wait for a million more adventures with my amazing husband!
“May God give you...For every storm a rainbow, for every tear a smile, for every care a promise and a blessing in each trial. For every problem life sends, a faithful friend to share, for every sigh a sweet song and an answer for each prayer.” -- Irish Blessings Quote
I love the first picture by the window! the lighting is perfect! I really like seeing low-key weddings - it looks like a lot more fun, and a lot less stressful.

ReplyDeleteThis is so beautifully perfect (just like the two of you as a couple!) - what an idyllic wedding. The intimacy of it reminds me a lot of mine (it was under 50 people in a historic house).

What an absolutely charming wedding you two had! You were such a stunning bride - although that part is really no surprise :) I'm just so amazed, and a little jealous, I admit, at how you haven't aged a day in eight years... whatever your secret is, you must share :) I love that Martin wore jeans at your wedding, too; it really looks like the day was just so authentically you, which I love. Our wedding was magical in many ways but I really wanted it to be very intimate, but our day was for everyone in our respective families more than it was for us and so we spent the day sprinting. I still don't know who half of the people who attended actually were! But here I am writing you a novel instead of a comment - suffice it to say I loved looking at these photos :)

ReplyDeleteI love how your wedding was so simple yet meaningful. Also love that Martin wore jeans! Haha, you both look wonderful and happy :)
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I was never raised to view weddings as such an over-the-top event. My parents were married in much the same way, and they've been together 32 years now - and I still catch them flirting. That's the kind of marriage I hope to have one day <3
Thanks for sharing this post with us!
