I will not lie ...it was kind of challenging taking pictures indoors today. I have grown more and more accustomed to taking my pictures outside; however, it's not always possible and today was indeed one of those days. A big BOO to the weather gods -did they not get my memo? "Dear weather gods: Please make sure I have perfect weather today so I can take fabulous pictures for my fashion blog." Hmm, just as I suspected... they didn't get it!

Truths
- I adore this new skirt and want to dedicate my blog to her
- I love my hubs for helping me with these pictures

- I burnt last night's dinner
- Best part? Hubs still said it was yummy

Lesson of the day? Sometimes the best truths come in the form of a "little white lie." Case in point, dinner was not that great, but hubs compliments made me smile. xx veronika

Belt Amnesia & Ice Cream

Please note that I have not worn this ModCloth belt in the last several posts. And if I have, I would like to plead a temporary case of “belt amnesia.” I would also like to state for the record, that I will be wearing this belt again, and for that I would like to blame ModCloth, because they sell darn cute belts!

I am also equally enthusiastic about this scarf. I love adding textures & layers to my outfits. And I also love having clothes that are my BFF’s -you know, the ones that you can always depend on: you thrift together, drink tea together, and if you have one too many glasses of wine, you might even hear them talk to you! Hehe, don’t worry you guys, I DON’T talk to my clothes. I usually reserve those crazy antics for my closet. It usually consists of loud groaning with some swearing, and it is brought on by me having nothing to wear! Luckily, I have an emergency plan: stay home, eat ice-cream, and make hubs watch re-runs of “sex and the city.” xx veronika

PS - I also had (you may have noticed) my hair dyed a warm red-brown this week, which I love. Hope you guys like it too. AND I also tried the new “Moroccan Oil” that everyone is talking about. DISCLAIMER: MOVE ASIDE HUSBAND, BECAUSE THERE’S A NEW LOVER IN TOWN!

The Sweet & Simple Things

Life is about the simple things. Yup, it’s a proven theory that it’s the simple things that make us happy. Case in point, let me get a little scientific on you guys: I photographed both of my looks outside this week (thank you Spring); hubs said that I looked really pretty in my new ruffly ModCloth top, and the big drum-roll, please... he made a yummy spaghetti dinner for me. My elaborate study shows? Exhibit A (that be me) felt happy!

I also felt happy lounging around the condo in this outfit! We then sauntered off for a hot tea and played some pool. Please be forewarned, that playing pool with me involves ducking when it’s my turn to hit the ball. My raging talent for injuring bystanders playing pool, is also blatantly obvious when I am handling a pool stick. And for the final icing on the cake? My playful but snarky comments about how I am going to kick your a**.  Obviously, I am a charmer! End result? Hubs won. Hehe, not a surprise. Happy Monday, lovely readers. Hope you guys had a great weekend! xx veronika

Easy Sunday...

{HOODY: FRENCH CONNECTION, DRESS: MODCLOTH, TIGHTS: JACOB, BOOTS: GUMDROPS}

Easy, like a Sunday morning! Yup. That was yesterday’s dressing mantra, you guys. What can I say? That damn song was stuck in my head. Although, I do have to confess that I am a sucker for comfort. I love dressing up (LOVE!), but sometimes dressing for ease and comfort, especially on a lazy Sunday, is the cat’s pajamas! And yesterday was just that kind of day.

An easy Sunday includes:
- wearing my husband’s cozy knitted hoody
- jumping in a big puddle and letting out an excited squeal
- chasing my dog on the beach
- napping in the car on our way to get Japanese food (oops, sorry hubs)
- and making another list for my bloggy, while wiggling my toes in my gum boots

Alright my fabulous fashionistas... wishing you all a lovely Valentines Day. Oh, and don’t tell, K? But, I still haven’t planned anything for the hubs. I will obviously have to resort to Plan B: get hubs tipsy, feed him lots of yummy food, and assume he won’t remember too much in the morning. xx veronika

Casual Eats & Stripey Treats

A casual evening out, calls for: (one part) vegy burger with a side of salad. Oh don't worry you guys, I am NOT that healthy -I always steal fries from the hubs! And (two parts): stripey cardy, jeggings, and woven leather belt! AND my ultimate pièce de résistance, Joe Fresh booties.

A few dinner disclaimers:
- I will drink your wine, then suggest you're drinking way too fast
- I will be in the bathroom when the cheque comes
- I will order a healthy meal, but devour your fries and pizza
- I will curl my napkin into a million tiny balls and then flick them at you...

However, don’t be alarmed! I am in fact lovely to have dinner with; these (above mentioned) “privileges” are only for my dear husband! OK, back to my Joe Fresh booties. Confession? I can’t stop wearing them! I am on a re-mixing rampage with these puppies. They seem to make all of my outfits... cuter! Mark your calendars, my lovely readers, for a “Girl and Closet” booties intervention, coming to a town near you. I will be sending out your invites shortly. xx veronika

Revelations & City Romance

It was a day of mini revelations. I discovered that my favourite skirt (pictured above) has pockets. How did I not know this? I live for skirts with pockets and I have worn this skirt many times. I also learned that my husband is a hummer. HOW did I not know this? I do not like humming, especially while trying to read a book (shameless hint for husband). And I also learned that I can break up the black in this outfit, by adding a brown belt and a taupe-ish coloured scarf. Again, I did not know this. Voila. I am a new person you guys!

And while we are on the topic of life-changing events, I am also on a new mission. More cardio? Nope. More vintage shopping? Yes! I have become so inspired by all of you, dear fashion bloggers, hence my new mission! Oh good, you’re sitting down because I am about to get deep. I am throwing my heart into this, my arms are flailing. I want to rescue unloved clothes, re-style them and give them a place to call home. I also want to save money. OK, so I am not completely selfless. PS. Hubs is humming again. PPS. I just ate the last potato skin. xx veronika

City Loafing & Coloured Tights

 {JACKET: H&M, TANK: ZARA, SKIRT: H&M, TIGHTS: JOE FRESH, SHOES: JOE FRESH,  BAG: H&M}

You know you’ve made it to the big time when the “cool cats” are reading your blog! Speaking of reading my blog, I just wanted to say a big fuzzy THANK YOU for being such wonderful readers. I love reading your comments and getting to know you. And since I can’t invite everyone over for a home cooked meal, I thought I would do a giveaway in the next few weeks. So stay tuned. I “heart” you guys!

Apparently, I am also a city loafer, which entails drinking coffee, browsing bookstores, and buying yummy cookies at the bakery (PS husband, I ate yours on the way home). I decided on this outfit, which is a delightful break from my usual go-to jeans look. Do you guys have that constant go-to outfit? I thought so, but that’s okay, so do I! Case in point, when I was getting dressed today, I reached for my jeans but my far too opinionated “closet” gave me that scolding look, again! However, sometimes you have to outsmart those that know you the best. So my tip today? Swap it out! You just might surprise yourself and your far too vocal closet! xx veronika
