I'm ready to make this my new spring uniform. So cute! I can't wait to nab those yellow Madewell sandals. Does anyone know how their shoes fit? Fingers crossed, they run true to size. As for this weekend, it looks the rain gods have spoken because our sun has disappeared. I'm okay with that though... I'm really looking forward to taking it easy and soaking in some fabulous downtime! Really, what could be better?!... Happy weekend, everyone!
Things I'm loving:

This fabulous post on yoga from my blogging pal Gaby of This Little Port.

Love the boho vibe of these gorgeous earrings... so lovely for spring!

Oooh, scarf perfection. Would love to wear mine with skinnies & a loose cami.

Hoping to add this classic beauty to my jewelry collection. I am a diamond addict! Admitting it is the first step, right?!...

Excited to start hiking again this spring & summer. I'm hoping to check out Teapot Hill in Chilliwack!

Lovely to see that Stella & Dot will be donating 20% of the retail price of these pieces for Autism Awareness month!

I've been listening to my springtime playlist all week. Yup, I'm notorious for overplaying my favourite songs.

This floral blazer from Shop Ruche is crazy perfect for spring.... just add a striped tee & light wash skinnies!

Cami's & Studded Flats

Yup I caved! My bangs are back. I was so nervous about cutting them and thought I'd regret it - but nope, I'm loving them. At the end of the day I'm just more of a bangs girl... either blunt or just a little longer and worn off to the side. I find they give my hair instant polish, and help with my morning routine; my hair's way less high maintenance this way. Ok, can we just take a moment and do a "yay, it's spring" happy dance?! I've been feeling so much more upbeat... I'm feeling excited for spring fashion, new goals, getting fit + loosing those pesky 5 pounds, and work... I have a slew of Stella & Dot parties lined up. Whoot!

Say hello to my new and beloved Zara flats. I'm pretty certain you'll be seeing a lot of them on the blog. Consider yourselves warned! I've really been enjoying wearing statement/edgier shoes lately... since I like simple & classic looks, I find a funky shoe or statement jewelry lends a pop of something unexpected to my everyday outfits. This spring, I hope to take more risks with my accessories and add more of a fun vibe to my looks! What about you guys, how do you like to liven up a basic outfit? I'd love to hear your tips...

SPRING FAVOURITES

Hello! Thanks for the dentist well wishes, guys. I'm doing not too bad (thank goodness) but I'm definitley looking a little swollen. So, I thought this would be the perfect time to look back at some of my favourite springtime outfits. I'm getting incredibly excited for the new season and to see where my style goes. This week, I'm taking the plunge and going back to red, however, this time I'll be choosing a more ginger/light auburn hue. I hope to go a little more bohemian with my outfits as well: loads of delicate layered jewelry, silky camisoles, skinnies, and mix it up with edgy Zara flats. I also have my eye on pretty patterned scarves and laid back maxi dresses. I can't wait! Where do you see your style going for this spring?!...

Everyday Style, Stripes & Leather

I've decided to borrow a little inspiration from Jen of Jen Loves Kev, and re-name my "look-book" posts to "my everyday style"... although, I still dress up here and there, the blog has become much more focused around my weekend/downtime outfits, and the new name just felt more fitting. I am however, excited to start injecting more colour and fun pops of accessories to my looks now that spring is approaching. After our long winter, I definitely need a style pick me up!

And speaking of spring?! It felt soooo spring like when we took these photos. I was actually warm - what a welcome change! I hate to sound like a whiner but I'm definitley not a fan of taking outfit photos when it's freezing out. Since it was a fabulously warm day, Martin & I spent much of it outdoors: we walked to the park, sat on the ocean pier, and then came home & cooked together. We made a super healthy tomato, cabbage and vegy soup. Really delicious! I hope to post the recipe for it later this week. And... thank you for all your lovely comments on our wedding photos! Both Martin & I really enjoyed reading through them! You guys are just the sweetest!!

Hello! Oh my goodness, are you guys as excited about daylight savings time as I am?!... I'm loving the longer days and the opportunity for more outfit photos. This winter has not been kind to us Vancouver bloggers - that's for sure! Also, I'm thrilled to have been featured by Bella magazine in a two page spread. Yay! Be sure to pop by for a visit... I just discovered their magazine a few months back and love it! On that note, I'll see you tomorrow for an outfit post. Happy Tuesday, friends!

INSTA LIFE

There's something so wonderful about capturing life's sweet little moments. I know one day we'll love looking back and reminiscing about afternoons spent by the ocean, village ice cream dates, and trips to our favourite sushi restaurant. This past week I've been feeling pretty nostalgic - ever since I sorted through our wedding photos, it's become shockingly obvious at how quickly 8 years can flash before your eyes. As a result, Martin & I have spent our last few evenings talking about our goals as a couple and where we'd like to be in five years. We both agree, between my health problems and our busy work schedules, we've been majorly lacking in the "fun" department. As for our main goals?... We'd like to work towards buying a bigger home, buckle down and start a family, pay off our car & debts, and (my favourite) get away on more trips. I have several planned for this spring/summer and I can't wait to share them with you! On that note, wishing you a lovely weekend, friends, and here are a few of my favourite bits from the past week or so...

OUR WEDDING

Mar 6, 2013

Hello! It's been a little quiet over here this week... Martin was out of town and I spent most of my evenings totally unplugged, and loved it! You know, living in pj's and watching "The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills." Haha, it sounds so bad, but it felt so good! ;) I also finally sorted & edited our wedding photos. Okay, that took an embarrassingly long time considering we were married 8 years ago. I can't wait to surprise Martin with this post and share it with our family overseas. We had a small wedding of about 30 people and rented a heritage house right by the ocean. It was important to us that our wedding be laid-back and down to earth. Neither Martin & I are overly stuffy that way... in fact, I spent much of it bopping around barefoot and sitting on the porch sipping wine with friends. Pretty awesome!

It's hard to put our day into words because I felt so much. I was nervous and excited but mostly beaming. I remember falling more in love with my husband and friends... I think we all walked away feeling like we had shared something so incredibly sweet and special with one another. I can't help but be reminded of the vows that Martin & I took and to not take one day for granted. It's easy to get caught up and distracted by all of life's busyness. But at the end of the day, there's nothing I love more than my family and my commitment to putting them first. I can't wait for a million more adventures with my amazing husband!

“May God give you...For every storm a rainbow, for every tear a smile, for every care a promise and a blessing in each trial. For every problem life sends, a faithful friend to share, for every sigh a sweet song and an answer for each prayer.” -- Irish Blessings Quote

CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER SMOOTHIE

Feb 27, 2013

I've really been into smoothies lately and I've been meaning to make this one and share it with you guys on the blog, forever! Mmmm, chocolate and peanut butter, is there anything better?! This concoction was seriously amazing... I even had to wrestle it out of Martin's hands to get a sip. ;) I especially love that this recipe is super healthy as well as sugar free. I'm all about indulging but I still want to stay healthy while doing it and this smoothie did just that. It gave me great energy + I really enjoyed adding the coco too - it's full of antioxidants and flavonoids. Yay, for guilt free treats!

You'll need:
  • 1/2 cup vanilla soy milk
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened coco (I use a premium dutch brand)
  • 2 tbsp creamy peanut butter
  • 1 frozen and sliced banana
  • 1/4 cup greek yogart
Pop all your ingredients in a blender... blend & enjoy!! Let me know what you think... :)

AN AFTER WORK DATE

Feb 25, 2013

A trip down to the ocean was just what Martin & I needed. I don't know what it is, but the last few weeks have left me feeling so scattered. For March, I'd really like to get my butt in gear, and start fresh... new goals, create a blog schedule (it's been a challenge the last few months), change up my hair, finish decorating our place, and get out more with my honey. This winter in particular has been dragging on and I can't wait for spring to arrive. I'm sure I'll have a renewed pep to my step just from the new season. And... look at that sun! Martin & I have made it a priority to get more family time after work as well as mix up our usual routine. We usually pack up some food, grab our dog and head somewhere scenic to chill & unwind. Watching Scout chase birds, run circles around us, listen to the waves crash and take in that amazingly fresh air... definitley chases our troubles away!

STYLE INSPIRATION

Whoo-hoo, it's official! I'll be dying my hair red sometime next week and I can't wait! But, I don't think I'll go as red as last time. I plan on choosing a semi-permanent colour, so it won't be a forever commitment. Perfect! Today, I'm still feeling under the weather, which means I'm doing one of my favourite "un-winding activities" and creating style sheets. I own the same or very similar items as featured below, and when I'm in a "what to wear" pinch, these cheat sheets are a life saver. Lately, I've been choosing very simple & classic looks. However, come spring I'd like to update those classics with a more laid-back and boho kind of vibe...
Sorry I didn't include links to the items. Most of the pieces are from Polyvore, Madewell, the jeans are from Topshop and the jewelry/clutch is from my Stella & Dot online shop. Happy Friday, everyone!!

DREAMING OF RED HAIR

Feb 21, 2013

I'm feeling a little under the weather today, so as a result I've spent the day relaxing at home & sorting through old photos... and I dug these up. Wow, I can't believe they're from seven years ago. They were taken right after Martin & I got married. I have so many sweet memories from that summer. Getting engaged and planning our wedding was such an amazing time for the both of us. And I love my red hair! What do you think?! I'd love to switch back. I'm in desperate need of a refresher, my hair's been feeling so, so drab lately. Also, quick update! I just switched over to embedded comments and I'll be able to answer all of your questions directly from there. So if you have a question?!... Ask away, just be sure to check back in a day or two and I'll do my best to respond promptly to your comment/question. Thanks so much for reading guys, hope you're having a fab day!! xo

Vacations And Moto Jackets

It must be this cold weather we're having (brrr!) because I've been dreaming and diligently plotting our next getaway! I'm in desperate need of some glorious vacation time. We'd love to visit Gabriola Island, Sunshine Coast, and the Okanagon Valley come spring. I can't wait to indulge in all of my favourite down-time activities... the spa, massages, restaurants, wine, gorgeous ocean walks, and lots of sleeping in. Both Martin & I have been feeling pretty exhausted and overwhelmed lately, so this seems like a lovely solution. Yay for vacation planning!

Wow, I'm surprised it's taken so long to debut my Forever 21 moto jacket. I live in it most days + I love that it works with everything... pencil skirts, dresses, skinnies, and so lovely with tights & simple shorts too. Love, love! Well, hope your Tuesday is a fabulous one, friends. I'm gearing up for another dentist appointment (sigh) and tonight Martin & I are off to enjoy a mid-week date night: sunshine, Mexican food and couch cuddles/naps. Yes!
