Happy Tuesday everyone! I’m sipping coffee and visiting my hubby on his movie set while I type this. Fun! Other than that, life is good. We’ve been visiting lots of pretty locations for the blog and enjoying the most beautiful weather! It’s warm, but cool and the light is deliciously golden. It's been pure magic + it's absolutely my favourite time to take photos and style outfits! With that in mind, I started an autumn pinterest board so I can stay inspired and do justice to my favourite time of year!

As  for the dress?! You might remember it from my past autumn favourites post. I loved restyling it again, but pairing it with my whiskey boots and new Old Navy camel cardigan this time around. If you’re looking for a new one? I highly recommend it, it’s super cozy and pretty much screams autumn to me + looks fab with my newest ModCloth blouse and skinnies too!

This week, I also have high hopes of getting back to the gym, and generally taking better care of my health. As much as I love pouring over this space & social media... I need to learn to take a little more time for workouts and cooking healthy dishes. Any recipes you guys are loving lately? I just made lentil burgers (loved em') and I'd love to try this yummy dish as well. A healthy version of Mac and Cheese! Anyway, I'll be sure to keep you guys posted on my work-outs/progress -- wish me luck!! xo

Choose What You Love

It's my suspicion I'll have a hat firmly planted on my head until winter! This is the season, friends! It's also my goal to have more fun with fashion this autumn and beyond... this past year I feel like my style veered into much more classic territory (it's been a slice) but now I'm ready to do more thrifting, get inspired for vintage looks and quirky prints (like this dress I just ordered for Martin's graduation). Darling, isn't it?!

When I take a moment to pause, I realize some of my "classic" inspiration has come from the pressures of getting older. But, that's the funny thing about age... do we dress our age? Or wear what we love?! It's my hope to have both! One of my dearest girlfriends, who's older, and has amazing vintage/retro style said it best... "V as long as you wear what you love it will always feel right!" So that's the mantra I carry with me and I hope I'll keep choosing what I love as I get older.

I wore this outfit for a date with my hubby and I'm absolutely loving my new top + booties from Old Navy. Many of you asked about both items via Instagram stories, so, I'm taking it as a good sign my fashion instincts were on point! ;) The top has the most darling foliage and bunny print, plus the booties are super comfy and come in grey as well. Very tempted to nab them!! xo

Past Autumn Favourites

Clearly my love of crunching leaves and autumnal style has not waned since starting my blog in early 2011. And... holy moly! I can't believe I've been documenting my outfits & adventures for the past five years! I know lots of bloggers come, and go, but I have a feeling you guys will have a hard time getting rid of me! ;) When it comes to fashion? This is definitely my favourite time of year and I can't wait to rock all my fave colours like burnt orange, burgundy, olive and navy. I'm also quite certain I'll be living in floppy hats, floral tops, skinnies & booties... or cardigans, dresses & over the knee boots! On that note, let's take a look back, yeah?!

What about you friends? What are you most excited for fashion wise?! Any outfits you're just dying to wear?... xo

Almost Autumn

In all truth, this post should have been called "Autumn Nerd" because it would be much more telling of my current state + level of enthusiasm! Most days you'll find me running out the door wearing a floppy hat, cozy cardigan, huge grin, and making my way to Starbucks for a PSL. There's no denying my love for this season, and this year, I'm determined to check everything off my bucket list!!

I'm also equally ecstatic about this space and making it the best it's ever been! When I re-branded from "By The Shore" back to "Girl & Closet" in May I was ready to go full force but sadly my health started to dwindle. Sigh! While it's currently far from perfect... I have managed to find a nice little groove for myself. For that, I'm so grateful, because this space means the world to me, and is such a huge piece of my heart. So thank you for continually popping in and supporting. Honestly, the blogging community and your friendship is what keeps me motivated, and loving what I do, always!

I'm also scratching my head, because, I can't believe it's Thursday! Thank you long weekend!! For this weekend, we're off to a few fun locations for blog photos. I'm styling a 90's inspired look and can't wait. I'm also trying to decide between bangs, or no bangs for the new season. But for now, I'm mostly humming & hawing, typical me, when it comes to hair. Ha! And then, Martin & I are grabbing dinner and off to enjoy some live music, plus hopefully a cocktail or two. I'll be sure to share on instagram stories! Have a great day everyone!! xo

Summer's Last Hurrah

Sep 6, 2016

While I have a very autumny post lined up for later this week, today, I'm celebrating summer's last hurrah! Are you guys still enjoying the summer heat, or are the cooler temps slowly making their way? Vancouver has definitely been in full on autumn mode since September 1st -- which is fine by me! I'm excited for pumpkin spice latte's, cozy layers and switching my closet to more seasonal colours... my faves are olive green, rust, burgundy and navy. Also, if you're curious to see what I'm wearing/adding to my closet?! Be sure to stop by my shop page. I've been adding to it almost daily! :)

Other than that, this week's been bitter sweet. My love's back to work after a summer off, sigh! But I'm looking forward to getting more focused time with my blog, reorganizing my office + re-opening my Etsy shop. Yay, yay!! I'm trying to decide between making handmade jewelry again, or designing blog templates. Any votes?! Either way, I'll definitely keep you guys posted!

For my "Summer's Last Hurrah" post I thought my ModCloth dress was the perfect choice! So far this summer, I've worn it with my denim vest & strappy flats, and with an oversized cardigan for cooler nights. I love the mix of navy and orange, plus the oversized blooms add such a fun and energetic vibe! I'd love to re-style it for the new season ahead, but am a little stumped, any ideas? I'm all ears! Happiest (sort of) Monday, friends!! xo

Cammidge House

Sep 1, 2016

For our wedding anniversary... Martin & I decided to venture out to Cammidge House where we were married 11 years ago. Unfortunately it rained for most of the day but we still managed to get a few photos between breaks + I'm a trooper when it comes to taking photos. If you haven't been to Cammidge House before? I highly recommend a peek around. Or better yet, you might want to consider it as a possible venue. It's a 100 year old historic house situated in the midst of farm land and right beside Boundary Bay. We loved having our wedding there!

We kept things pretty simple & low key for our anniversary celebration, which is honestly, my favourite! We started the day with a drive through all the near by farmland (I'm certain, I took a ridiculous amount of red barn photos, haha) then we visited our original wedding venue, snapped photos, walked to Boundary Bay and reminisced about all our favourite wedding moments. My fave moment? Was definitely when Martin saw me in my wedding dress for the first time and got misty eyed. Aw!

After that we headed to a local pub called the Rusty Anchor, it was so charming & rustic. The inside looked like a boat with wood planking and lanterns, and it's situated right beside the dock. I had their vegetarian quesadilla and Martin ordered their prawn tacos + we shared my favourite... beer & clamato juice. I don't know why, but I'm hooked, it's so, so good and super refreshing! Also, cute alert, while we were chomping our food, they played one of our wedding songs -- which was amazing and pretty much made our day!
