Sponsor Spotlight: March & Happy Weekend!!

Hello! Hope everyone's enjoying a fabulous weekend! We aren't getting as much sun as I was hoping for, so I've decided to hunker down with my computer and share with you my favourite sponsored items. A truly lovely bunch!!
Bait Footwear is the ultimate go-to place for cute & adorable shoes... always a little bit vintage but with the perfect mix of modern. I'm smitten with this company since discovering them a few months ago.
There is something so incredibly sweet about hand-knit items/accessories, and Brandy's etsy shop Gray Design is the perfect example of that. You'll find the prettiest hand-knitted hats, scarves, headbands and more...
Karina Manarin's shop features beautifully hand-dyed organic textiles which are stunningly modern and will add just the right amount of fun to any wardrobe. I absolutely love the yellow cardy featured above and imagine it would pair perfectly with my floral skirts for spring - cute!
Oh my gosh, Yeye has the perfect selection of vintage! I adore scouring her store for beautiful inspirations, and she always styles her pieces so pretty. I now have a long list of things I need to get from her shop - this one is a must see, guys!
With hotter days slowly approaching, it's great to find easy ways to personalize & accessorize an outfit. I adore the selection & quality that Sproos has to offer and they're offering all readers a 20% discount with code: VERONIKA
When it comes to blogging, one of my favourite things is getting to know other bloggers, and I'm thrilled to have met Erika of Rouge and Whimsy. Cute outfits and fabulous DIY's?! Yes please! Erika also sells the prettiest colour block totes on etsy - I can't wait to style mine!

Look Book: Spring Denim & Pretty Vintage Blouses!!

Hehe, have you noticed I keep throwing the word "spring" into my look book titles?! Apparently someone's excited for spring - me! This week, I've been immersed & working on my jewelry non-stop. I finished all of the pieces, twelve in total, and I'll be updating the shop with a couple new pieces each month. Did you guys get to see my shop preview on instagram?! I'm only a few days from having it go live. Yay! I have also been glued to my new Canon 60D - it's such a pleasure to shoot with and I just photographed these photos the other day, just me & my remote!
Pretty vintage blouses, skinny jeans & a pop of red lipstick is what I seem to wear most days during my work week. Being my own boss, I obviously don't have a dress code but I still prefer to look pulled together for my work day... it helps me feel great and puts a little extra pep in my step! This pretty blouse was just sent to me via EL Vintage - sweet Emily is offering all of my readers a 15% discount with promo code: 15girlcloset
Other than that, Martin & I have been taking full advantage of the beautiful weather; meeting friends for impromptu dinners and taking lots of photos at sunset, which is an amazing feeling especially when it's 7:30 at night. This weekend we're off to do more of the same, so fingers crossed for lots of gorgeous sunshine! On that note, hope your weekend is a fabulous one, friends! What's everyone up to?! xo veronika

Look Book: Flowers, Petite Bow-Ties & Spring!!

As much as I love layers like hats, scarves and super cozy cardigans, sometimes it's just so nice to throw on a dress, simple tights & a great pair of wedges. Easy dressing, yay! I must say it feels pretty great to be back with an outfit post after all my TxSC recaps. I was seriously having withdrawal. Hehe, you know you're a blogger when, right?! On this particular day, we had the chance to try our brand new (woot!) Canon 60D. Martin's in the throws of reading the manual and we're talking about taking a photography class together too - fun!
I've been loving wearing my hair in loose waves. It's such a nice change from my usual straightened hair and it's a little less work too, sold! In fact, with spring now in effect, I'm full of all kinds of new inspiration. I have ice-cream dates on the brain, long bike-rides, and I can't stop buying pretty dresses & skirts. I love this time of year for both the weather and fashion!
Today I'll be playing catch-up after being away in Austin, and with Martin's health scare, I haven't really had a chance to catch my breath. I have lots of projects on the go and I'm really hoping to finish them. We're painting one of our living room walls a slate grey, and I'd like to finish the rest of my jewelry pieces this week and then photograph & upload them to the online store. I'll try to include a sneak peek in my next post. Hope your Monday is off to a great start, guys! xo veronika

TxSC: Blowfish Breakfast, Conference & What I Learned!!

Mar 22, 2012

For my final day in Austin, Texas, I attended a super fun & laid back breakfast with Amy and Elise, both of whom work for Blowfish and were an absolute dream to meet, along with my dear friend Jenni of Story of My Life, and Elizabeth of Delightfully Tacky. Yay! My overall impression of the blogging community?! The nicest people you will ever meet!! I couldn't have felt more at home! :)
(Left to right: Elizabeth, Jenni, Amy, Roxy, Lauren, and Tieka below!)
I then headed to the conference. This year's theme was thinking beyond your blog, and recognizing that not everyone wants to be a full-time blogger. Most bloggers have full-time jobs and choose to document their outfits/lives because it's such an inspiring community. The conference also focused on bringing the most authentic you to your blog, allowing yourself to dream, and creating genuine connections with your readers, or customers if you are a small boutique owner. I absolutely love that point of view on blogging!
(Left to right: Diya, Veronika, Julie, Kristina and below: J, Jen, Elizabeth, Kyla)
Kendi delivered a strong & inspiring message during her keynote speech: realizing your purpose is much greater than your blog, and you have the ability to make it whatever you want it to be! We are all on a path and no two paths look the same, and that's OK. We are here to find our own unique voice, point of view, and connect with a life that's authentic and reflects our passions. Kendi challenged us to dream bigger, to dream beyond our blogs! One of my favourite quotes from her was, "Comparison is the thief of joy!" It's not about what everyone else is doing... it's about what you want to be doing!
Well that's a wrap, guys! I can't stress enough how inspiring it was to hear so many bloggers talk about their journey. For me, this conference couldn't have come at a better time. I feel armed with loads of inspiration and I look forward to sharing it all with you on the blog. Lastly, be sure to take a peek at the video - this was one of my favourite panel discussions. Happy blogging everyone! xo

TxSC Speed Mentoring Breakfast!!

Mar 19, 2012

Hello, friends! It's been such a crazy & whirlwind week. I was hoping to get to my TxSC recaps sooner, but Martin (my hubby) ended up getting rushed to the hospital late last week. He lost consciousness several times and is now recovering from a serious viral infection. Ugh, what a week! Let's take a look back at the Texas Style Council Conference, shall we?! On Saturday, I had the pleasure of attending the speed mentoring breakfast. I loved mingling with my favourite bloggers and learning from their blogging experiences!
Once we got settled and enjoyed some super tasty breakfast tacos, we then walked around and chit chatted with any blogger of our choice. Each blogger was there to represent a certain topic. I had the chance to talk to Jen of Jen Loves Kev about blogger burn-out, a topic that was discussed a lot at the conference; life & blog balance is absolutely something I've struggled with at times. It's easy to get wrapped up in all that you have to do, but we need to learn to cut ourselves some slack. The sky will not fall if you don't get to a post or answer all of your emails/comments on a given day!
After a fabulous morning of networking, I headed down to South Congress with some of the girls for an afternoon of city tromping & vintage browsing. I'll be honest, I was kind of geeking out... I felt like I had to pinch myself - was I really shopping with a handful of my favourite fashion bloggers?! Eee! The afternoon ended with a visit to a fantastic Mexican restaurant (Austin has the best food!!) and some super tasty tequila, which was absolutely the perfect way to unwind! I'll see you guys for my final Austin re-cap this Thursday and share a more in-depth review of what I learned!

Look Book: TxSC Clothing Swap!!

Mar 14, 2012

Yay, I’m back! I had such an amazing time at the Texas Style Council and I can't wait to share all my favourite re-caps with you guys. For my first night out, I attended the annual swap, which was hosted by swap.com & Lulu's. I absolutely loved visiting the Lulu's lounge - each blogger was lucky enough to receive a complimentary item, and I nabbed the cutest BB Dakota dress. Score!
As for the outfit? It was totally unplanned & very last minute. It was cold and rainy when I arrived in Austin, so all of my pre-styled outfits kind of went out the window. I chose something a little bit more laid back & comfy as I spent a fair bit of my day site seeing, but still chic for the party. I had a lot of people/press ask to take pictures of my look, which was a nice vote of confidence.
I was thrilled to finally meet so many of the ladies that I have connected with this past year, some of whom are pictured here: Kyla, Tieka and Jen. It's such a surreal experience because you feel like you know everyone super well, but yet you've never met face to face. Everyone was as sweet & kind as they are on their blogs and amazingly stylish. I felt so welcome, plus the venue was perfectly intimate, the ideal spot for kicking back & chatting!

Look Book: Tunics & Waiting For Spring...

Mar 8, 2012

Goodness, I'm so over the cold spell we've been having this past little while! I wish fall could be the "weather norm" here in Vancouver... warm enough to ditch the coat, but cool enough to pull off light layers. This week I've looked more like a snowman when I've had to walk Scout in the mornings. Sheesh!
Thankfully, it did warm up slightly just the other day, and I styled up this lovely tunic from my sponsor Dusana. She runs a fabulous shop, all of the items are fair trade and profits are reinvested into communities in Mexico. Amazing! For spring, I'm definitley looking to add more tunic-style tops to my closet. It's such a versatile piece and can be easily paired with a skirt or belted over a simple dress - so cute! How do you guys like to wear tunics?!

Yay, the time has come! I can't wait to meet some of you at the TXSC conference this weekend. If you spot me, be sure to pop on over and say hello! I'm looking forward to a weekend of fun parties, fabulous bloggy chats, and loads of inspiration. It’s going to be great!! Be sure to keep up with me on twitter & instagram for updates and photos. xo veronika
