Hello, friends! It's been such a crazy & whirlwind week. I was hoping to get to my TxSC recaps sooner, but Martin (my hubby) ended up getting rushed to the hospital late last week. He lost consciousness several times and is now recovering from a serious viral infection. Ugh, what a week! Let's take a look back at the Texas Style Council Conference, shall we?! On Saturday, I had the pleasure of attending the speed mentoring breakfast. I loved mingling with my favourite bloggers and learning from their blogging experiences!
Once we got settled and enjoyed some super tasty breakfast tacos, we then walked around and chit chatted with any blogger of our choice. Each blogger was there to represent a certain topic. I had the chance to talk to Jen of Jen Loves Kev about blogger burn-out, a topic that was discussed a lot at the conference; life & blog balance is absolutely something I've struggled with at times. It's easy to get wrapped up in all that you have to do, but we need to learn to cut ourselves some slack. The sky will not fall if you don't get to a post or answer all of your emails/comments on a given day!
After a fabulous morning of networking, I headed down to South Congress with some of the girls for an afternoon of city tromping & vintage browsing. I'll be honest, I was kind of geeking out... I felt like I had to pinch myself - was I really shopping with a handful of my favourite fashion bloggers?! Eee! The afternoon ended with a visit to a fantastic Mexican restaurant (Austin has the best food!!) and some super tasty tequila, which was absolutely the perfect way to unwind! I'll see you guys for my final Austin re-cap this Thursday and share a more in-depth review of what I learned!

Oh no, I hope Martin's okay! Definitely a good reason to skip posting here. Aha, but hopefully he'll recover quickly.
ReplyDeleteI like your simple but cute outfit :) The keopard clutch and glasses still kept it interesting! Haha and I can only imagine...shopping with those fashion bloggers? I think I'd be that idiotic star-struck girl haha!
But glad you kept your cool ;)

I hope your husband feels better! It must suck to have that going on while you just came back from such a busy weekend.
ReplyDeleteIt definitely looks like you had a good time at the council though, I hope to attend to some of those events some day.
So fun!!! I am dying to go to Austin, my husband played a music festival there at an old power plant and said the city is incredible!

Sorry to hear about your husband! That's really scary. I've read so much about TxSC, and I hope that I will be able to attend next year. What an awesome opportunity. I've seen multiple attendees mention the blogger burnout, and it is reassuring that "big-time" bloggers feel it too! I've only been blogging for five months and I love it, but I see how hard it is to balance family and blogging. I hope you will check out my blog if you get a chance!

I'm glad to read that your husband is recovering--how terrifying to have to rush to the hospital, though! Yikes. Never apologize for letting your real life come first. (:
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'm still insanely jealous. I don't think I'll ever get to the place with my blog where I get to go to a huge conference and geek out, but I can dream!
Love those glasses! cute outfit all around~

I read your comment about Martin on my blog yesterday and I've been meaning to email you ever since - I hope he's feeling much, much better now and on the road to a speedy recovery! I can't blame you for wanting to reminisce about your fun time in Austin during such a stressful time, and it looks like you have some really wonderful memories to look back on. I loved reading that blogger burnout came up a lot at the conference - we really all are obviously in the same boat :) Hope your week is off to a great start, my friend. And yes, I am definitely going to organise a blogger dinner very soon!

ReplyDeleteLove seeing your pics from Texas. It looks fab!
Aw! Looks like so much fun! I really want to get to a blogger get-together before I turn 20. They look like so much fun!!
ReplyDeleteIt's so funny that you should be talking about blogger burn out - I've been so busy this year so far I'm planning on taking a complete blogging break while I'm out of town in May. I need a break, and I'm going to be with my bffs (I only get to see them once or twice a year) so I want to focus on having a blast with them - not blogging. :)
Also, I love your glasses and blouse! Too cute. <3
your poor hubby! Sounds like such a great event. Also seriously love your blouse!!

Love the last photo of you. Super cute. :) It looks like a really fun weekend. Can't wait for your next post to hear everything you learned!
ReplyDeleteHI Veronika!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your lovely comment on my blog. I must've missed it because of my laggy computer. But I decided I'd thank you nonetheless. Better late than never, yeah?
And I'm glad I saw your comment so I could come check out your blog. It's flawless! So appealing and well-made. From the photography to the styling and design. Kudos!
Hope your husband is absolutely fine now. Would love to sit and chat with you someday.
Lot's of love.

Awh, I hope Martin (and you, from what I hear on twitter!) get better really soon - that's horrible!
ReplyDeleteAll these TxSC recaps are making me so jealous! This sounds like a lot of fun, I can't believe you got to meet so many of my favourites. And you looked seriously adorable in that outfit, Veronika!
You are too cute!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you guys had an amazing time at the conference! I hope to go next year!
hey love, i heard (in your comments over on Cee's and Alex's spaces) about Martin and the scare! oh my lord, what a thing to have happen. i'm so sorry and hope everything is okay now. can't imagine what kind of virus it was but please give him my well wishes along with, i'm sure, so many others!!!
ReplyDeleteit's been a while but i'm catching up tonight and wow what a slew of goodness. do you need a few more pinches from a friend? if it was me i'd be floating on high air from an experience this terrific. some bloggers are just like movie stars and i'd have been doing some completely inappropriate staring, not to mention orbiting around them like a friggin' satellite ; )
you look darling in each and every outfit!! breaky time seems like a blast - you've learned so much. how i'd love to pick your brain and have you put a buncha bugs in my ears! happy, learning, living, loving bugs of course! xo ♥
