Look Book: Snowy Strolls & Cozy Dresses...

Feb 2, 2012

Sheesh! It took forever to choose photos for this post... it's kind of hard sorting through photos of yourself sometimes - talk about indecisive! Do you guys ever have those moments?! Hehe, moving along, this week I've been non-stop with the cozy & relaxed looks, but it suits my entrepreneurial lifestyle perfectly. On the flip side, I'm known (ask Martin) to totally over-dress for non-glamorous things like buying groceries. Ha, what can I say? Some days, I'm all about dressing for mood rather than function.
I was so excited to buy this dress from my sweet friend Tieka of Selective Potential. I love when other bloggers set up "shop my closet" online stores - such a swell idea! As for the styling of the dress? Although it's definitely a summer piece, I decided to give it a more winterized look by pairing it with my cable knit tights & fave textured knits. If you'd like to see Tieka's summer version, you can view it here: "Coast Guard City!" Absolutely adorable, right?!
This weekend, Martin & I are off to visit our friends in the city. They just moved into a new townhouse which they had professionally decorated - SO fun! I can't wait to see it and hopefully nab a few inspirations for our place. And being the fashion dork that I am, my outfit is all planned out. I'm hoping to wear my newly ordered Jackie boots from Blowfish, which I'll of course be sharing in an outfit post next week. Yay! I'm obsessed with boots this season. Happy almost Friday, friends! xo

  21. Aw, I love this outfit. The colors in that dress are beautiful. <3

I've been known to totally over dress, too. My favorite thing to get dressed up for is going out to the movies. My family thinks it's silly since the theater is dark, but there's just something about going to the movies that makes me want to don a gorgeous frock and some rockin' heels! Doubly so if we go to the movies at night. And then there are days like today when I'm wearing a cardigan, boot cut jeans and Converses. Much as I love to dress up, sometimes comfort wins. ;-)

  33. Ha! I always have the hardest time choosing pictures of myself. I can analyze them for hours (it seems). And, I also tend to overdress for not-so-important events. I totally dress for my mood.. I think dressing up makes a girl just feel happy and pretty. :)

Your pictures are gorgeous! And I love your outfit from head to toe.

  39. Aw, I love that this dress came from Tieka's closet. We bloggers go through so many clothes, it's so nice to get your hands on a piece you've admired on someone else - especially when it comes straight from them, and they've run out of ways to wear it. That's one of the best parts of blogging, I think - see old reused and revitalised by new people. You did a beauiful job dressing this up for winter, the print is just stunning up close and it really shines again the neutral shades. Sounds like you have a lovely weekend ahead my friend - see you so soon!

  52. You did such a great job on 'winterizing' this dress! It looks fantastic with the neutrals and browns. Really a very lovely look!

And yes, I totally know how hard it can be sometimes to pick the right pictures for a post. Usually we take some silly pictures too, and they're quite funny, but I'm too "shy" to post them. Don't want to make myself look like a crazy person! ;-)

    Happy Friday!! xo

  53. i sometimes have immense dread to go through a gazillion photos that Sean or i have taken. it's overwhelming and i completely understand your dillemz; especially b/c i can't imagine there'd be a bad one in the bunch. these picks of pics are fabulous fun! yah to dressing up and strolling the grocery aisles : ) Sean has said the same thing to me and asked for some toning down. um, like that's gonna happen!

you've winterized Tieka's dress (now yours!!!) up beautifully. i really admire how you compose these looks. the way your mind hatches ideas needs to be bottled asap. so great!!!

adventure date sometime soon does sound fab, i'm feeling kinda sneaky about it b/c you and Martin always have so much fun on your walking shoots. i'd like Sean to get infused with some of that energy. he's been a bit of a stick in the mud lately with photo things. help?!

happy weekend to you both! xo ♥
