Scenes From: A Quaint Fisherman's Village!!

Jan 30, 2012

Last weekend Martin & I decided on a spontaneous day trip. We went to visit the cutest little fisherman's inspired village, just a mere 20 minutes from our home. It's situated right on the river, which had huge sheets of ice floating on it (crazy!) that's pretty unusual for us.  We spent our day walking around, peeking at the shops, took photos and then visited a local pub for some delicious food & amazingly yummy beer. I love doing trips like this and I'm already hoping to plan another one. Yay, weekends!!
Aren't these waterfront homes the prettiest?! We almost bought a home here several years ago, but then decided on our current location. Although, we may consider moving here once we start a family. And speaking of a bigger home?! I'd also love, love to get another dog, but first I'll have to convince Martin of my "two dogs are better than one" theory. Let's see how that goes. ;)
The area also had a fantastic walking trail, with the most beautiful view of the river. Our pooch was in absolute bliss - he loves his off-leash time. Aw! Coming here definitley reminded me of how important it is to get out, see new things and mix up my routine. It was a super memorable & relaxing day. What about you guys? Do you take little day trips and explore new areas?! xo veronika

Its funny because whenever we pass through different states or just traveling on the road, I like watching the passing houses and picking out which ones I'd love to live in one day. And don't take me into interior-design stores. I'll start picking out my future furniture and decorations right then!

Now that I am finally back in the "working world" we will be able to do some traveling. Can't wait! So far I've only really seen the city. If you have any recommendations for a first trip, please send them my way! It seems like we enjoy similar get-aways ;-)

  74. Love finding quaint little towns like this and exploring them! In fact, Andy and I would love to live in such a sweet little village some day (a quieter, simpler pace of life, ya know?). What a great adventure ... I absolutely adore the "in action" jumping shot, so fun!

Now, let's talk pups for a moment, shall we? Speaking from experience (Andy and I just adopted our second ex-racing greyhound about two weeks ago based on the two is better than one theory ... our Juice would have a playmate, etc. :) and we couldn't be happier! It is so fun to see the different personalities of each dog and, while the transition was a bit tricky (lots of growling ... snake eyes being shot by Juice to the new pup the first week or so), we have all settled in nicely and I can't imagine not having two pups! So, there you have it girlie ... one more vote in your corner (come on to the dark side, Martin, you are going to LOVE having two pups ... one for you and one for V :). That being said ... two dogs is enough, no more :)

Hope you have a rockin day!

  76. What a fun trip! Your outfit looks super cozy too.

About two years ago I had to convince my husband that two dogs are better than one. It's not that much more work. Feed them at the same time, take them for a walk at the same time, let them out at the same time. And they keep each other busy, less pressure on us to keep them busy. He finally was convinced when he talked to our neighbor who also has two dogs, and the neighbor explained to him that dogs are naturally pack animals and having two dogs makes sense for that reason. Good luck to you!

And I'd definitely say get two dogs (at least, that's what we want to do, but haven't even got one yet) :] I hear they keep each other company and are not much more maintenance as one dog would be. Hopefully that's how that goes :) And you know I ADORE those houses!! What a view. Hope you stayed cozy!!
