Hello! Sorry for the lack of posts last week, guys. I had a bit of a health setback, and as a result, ended up laying pretty low. But thankfully, I'm back on my feet and paying extra attention to what I eat. For the past six months I've been following a hypo-allergenic diet, but lately I've been sneaking in a bit of sugar here & there (oh, the holidays) and I ended up having a pretty awful reaction to it. Ugh. So this week, I'm stepping back and taking care of myself: hitting the gym, doing my yoga, and experimenting with sugar-free desserts. Sheesh, I should have known better!
Ok, on to the post! We've finally been getting hit with some much needed sunshine, so Martin & I saw this as the perfect opportunity to head out to Southport in White Rock. We're in the area often visiting our friends Clint & Erin, and we also attend church there. But we've never explored this particular nook; it's right beside a nature-rich golf course. The houses were so lovely + I adored the Cape Cod feel to them... and (eek) are about a million dollars. I swear, the real estate prices are crazy here in Vancouver! We enjoyed a fantastic walk along the river though, grabbed some Japanese food, and watched Scout (our pooch) enjoy some major off-leash adventure time. He had to say hello to everyone we met, haha, too cute! What an awesome weekend! What did you guys get up to?!...

Yup, here I am in all of my makeup-free glory and wearing my day-off comfy's. I'm not sure if this counts as an outfit post per se, it's more of a "hey, we went out for a walk and took some photos" kind of post. This is typical us on a day off - we usually head down to our favourite ocean-side trail, me with my camera + pooch in tow. And Martin does his favourite thing ever, long-boarding. It's our favourite way to unwind!
On a slightly more somber note. Ugh! I can hardly believe it, but I ended up back in the hospital with another allergy flare up. By
the time I got there, my blood pressure was incredibly low, my breathing
was laboured, and I was shaking. I was admitted for a few hours, given
an IV drip, and the doctors think that should put out the fire for
now, so to speak. I'm on bed rest this week - it seems if I try to do
anything, I get pretty sick and light-headed. Now, the doctors don't think it's a food allergy, so they're testing my autoimmune response. So on that note, outfit posts might be a little sparse this week & maybe the next?! But I'll still be popping in, because I love being able to connect with you guys each week.
I thought I'd share a few photos of Martin longboarding. He's usually pretty suited up when he goes, since he loves to do lots of sliding and fun tricks. Total boy sport, right?! By the time he's done, he's usually pretty banged up. I on the other hand, am more of a "cruising on my bike" kind of a gal. ;) But it actually does look pretty fun, so who knows... maybe I'll give it a try sometime. Happy almost weekend, everyone!!

Lots of love,

Our last few days have been so lovely! I'm certain that blogging in the summer is absolutely my favourite thing, ever!! Just this past weekend, Martin & I headed out for an ocean-side picnic. We sipped white wine + read a slew of home decor & travel magazines - so perfect. And the next day was spent lounging by our pool and doing more of the same; it's been such an amazing summer so far... I wish it would last forever!
Now that the hot weather has officially hit, I've been loving the easiness of throwing on a great dress, plus I'm so in love with this one... and yes, more stripes. Hehe, my closet is over flowing with them. I just can't help myself. As for the rest of today?! Well, aside from work, I'm hoping to end my day off with a visit to the beach and catch the sunset. I know, summer living is hard, hard work. Happy Tuesday, friends!

Lots of love,

Hello. It feels so great to be back & writing a post. Did you notice my lack of outfits last week-ish?! I ended up getting so sick with the flu and was in bed for almost a week. Not fun. But, I've got lots of posts planned for this week, so watch out. ;) These photos are from a few weeks back when Martin & I visited historic Fort Langley (an old fur trading town) and as you can see, it's gorgeous there. I especially loved taking photos of the scenery, it was so pretty & idyllic!
Fort Langley is definitley one of my favourite towns to visit; all of the shops and restaurants have a real nostalgia to them. I love that. In fact, one of my favourite moments was sitting at a little retro inspired ice cream shop and watching the sunset. The shopping was pretty terrific too, we peeked at the antique mall and then walked over to the pub for a delicious dinner.
I'm excited to be planning several trips for this upcoming summer, and blogging about them - of course! I've had my head buried in my travel book... all week! Are you guys familiar with BC?! It's truly spectacular and if you'd like a glimpse into where the heck it is I live, pop over here: Destination, British Columbia. On that note, enjoy your day and I'll see you tomorrow for an outfit post!

Hope you guys enjoyed a fantastic weekend! As promised, here are a few photos from our stay-cation. On our first day, we decided to stick close to home, where we enjoyed a fabulous ocean-side brunch (lobster & eggs benedict, yum!), walked along the pier, took a bazillion photos and then headed to our local market and stocked up on fresh gourmet food. For me, a day of relaxing means lots of tasty eats & a glass of wine - or two! Can't wait to share part two with you next week!! Enjoy the photos...

Last weekend Martin & I decided on a spontaneous day trip. We went to visit the cutest little fisherman's inspired village, just a mere 20 minutes from our home. It's situated right on the river, which had huge sheets of ice floating on it (crazy!) that's pretty unusual for us. We spent our day walking around, peeking at the shops, took photos and then visited a local pub for some delicious food & amazingly yummy beer. I love doing trips like this and I'm already hoping to plan another one. Yay, weekends!!
Aren't these waterfront homes the prettiest?! We almost bought a home here several years ago, but then decided on our current location. Although, we may consider moving here once we start a family. And speaking of a bigger home?! I'd also love, love to get another dog, but first I'll have to convince Martin of my "two dogs are better than one" theory. Let's see how that goes. ;)
The area also had a fantastic walking trail, with the most beautiful view of the river. Our pooch was in absolute bliss - he loves his off-leash time. Aw! Coming here definitley reminded me of how important it is to get out, see new things and mix up my routine. It was a super memorable & relaxing day. What about you guys? Do you take little day trips and explore new areas?! xo veronika

I can't believe that Christmas is just around the corner. Wow, that just seems lightening fast! I'm getting so, so excited for some time off with the hubs; two glorious weeks to be exact! Eee - family x-mas dinners, mini winter adventures, yummy pancakes in bed, long walks, followed by even longer naps. Guys, I'm tellin ya, I can not wait! Let the countdown begin!! :)
As you can see, our home is all decorated for the holidays. I had so much fun putting it all together! The past few years, I've been so swamped with work, I sadly haven't had the chance to fully embrace Christmas. But this year I was determined to make our home super festive and I'm so glad I did -yay! I can't help but wake up with a huge smile on my face every morning - it's truly such an amazingly magical time of year!!
Martin & I always count our blessings this time of year. We feel so thankful for all the love in our lives, our marriage, and I couldn’t be more thrilled with all the great things this year has brought - the blogging community absolutely being one of them! Sending hugs to you all!! What are you guys looking forward to the most this Christmas?!
