This fall, I almost gave up on coloured tights. What was I thinking, right?! I've somehow started to believe that getting another year older meant I needed to start toning down my looks and start choosing things that are more classic/conservative. Of course, my style will evolve as I age - that's to be expected. But lately I've been reminding myself to have more fun with fashion and not take myself so seriously. I think, at the end of the day, fashion should be about taking risks and having some fun, no matter what age we are!
This week, Martin & I have started planning our condo re-style. I hope to do an inspiration board type post in the next week and share what kind of items & overall look we are going for. Also, my dear sweet Martin just bought me the most gorgeous ring. I'm wearing it right now (swoon) and can't wait to share it with you in my next post. It was kind of a belated anniversary present as we didn't get to celebrate it this past August. I was going through all my health problems and in & out of the hospital. So, this was a pretty amazing treat. Have a great Thursday everyone!
On that note, have you guys seen the trailer for Advanced Style?! It's for an upcoming documentary about stylish New York ladies. I loved seeing older women talk about their love of fashion, and see them take such amazing fashion risks too. Really inspiring!

I love the colored leggings with the black dress! Glad you're keeping them!
ReplyDeleteLove the colored tights - glad you didn't give up on them completely! The tan/dark camel color is a great way to incorporate the trend without going overboard. Also can't wait to see the inspiration board for your redecoration! Such an exciting adventure!

I don't think you should give something up just because you "feel like" you should--it can, and should, happen more organically. I know I've outgrown certain things (like wearing cowboy boots all.the.time.) not because I intentionally decided to, but because my tastes changed and I started making different choices.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, I really enjoy the complementary hues of your tights and dress!

oh my gosh! how do you do it! the lighting in these looks as perfect as a movie set!
ReplyDeleteOooh, I can't wait to see the ring! And I don't think you should ever give up coloured tights - ever.

Okay i need to know! Is this dress new? is it black or blue? I pretty much need it! its sooo gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHayley
I'm so happy you have decided to keep the hued tights. They look lovely! I think that as we age, we start subconsciously putting back clothes that are not appropriate. I don't necessarily think that one needs to look at something and think "Is this appropriate for my age?" I think they'll just know.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the Advanced Style link, I'd never heard of it! I had such fun watching the preview, and there were two women whose styles stuck with me.
P.S. I saw your ring on Twitter, gorgeous! What a stunner. You are a very lucky lady!
totally gorgeous tights! i feel like i haven't seen them before (the hue, that is).

ReplyDeleteYou almost gave up on coloured tights? I have to say, I was shocked to read that. I always think of coloured tights as one of your signatures and honestly can't picture what your blog would be like if you went through an entire winter without them! I'm so glad you brought them back in the end, this rusty-hued beauties were practically crying out to be paired with this gorgeous dress! Hugs.

I have been a reader of yours for a while and I would have wondered what happened to your colored tights if you would have stopped wearing them. Your outfits are always adorable! And these pictures are awesome, I would never think to take a picture with a foggy background.

i love these coloured tights, they are such a nice rich colour!! They are perfect with the polka dot dress and that trench. Of course our style changes as we age but that doesn't mean we ever have to stop having fun with fashion :)
ReplyDeletexJennaD
It shouldn't even be legal to want something as much as I want the dress you are wearing.

Ohh my! That background is gorgeous, and so are you! I've been struggling with the same tights conundrum. I wore colored tights non-stop last year and this Fall I've been reaching for the same pair of black over and over. We can't get old just yet! ;)

i think you look classic and polished in what you're wearing already! I don't think that we should have to give up the things we like with age necessarily, but that could possibly be because I'm still 20 years old lol. I love the outfit though and the ring is STUNNING. I saw it on Instagram (i think?)

My favourite look of yours hands down EVER! It's so stunning Veronika...it's so you with the quirky little details but also slightly more evolved thanks to the muted palette. You look so stunning and each of these images is inspiration folder-worthy!
ReplyDeleteAlex xo
Woah what a bombshell! These photos are fantastic, especially because of the tights and fog(?)!!
ReplyDeletehttp://theoccasionalindulgence.blogspot.com/
You look wonderful in colored tights and the pairing is perfect. I recently threw away 4 pairs of colored tights for a sort of similar reason. I NEVER think people should tone down their style! However, I look so much younger than I really am and I have always viewed tights (even black ones) as a younger clothing item that conveys innocence. As much as I love them, I keep thinking tights are going to make me look even more like a teenager.
ReplyDeletehttp://tornowandbing.wordpress.com
I like the neutral colors, and that dress is really pretty.
ReplyDeleteThese photos are gorgeous! And I love black and brown together.
ReplyDeleteI was slow to jump on the colored tights bandwagon, but it was seeing fabulous ladies like yourself rock them that gave me the confidence to do so... and now I love it. I really think this look with the matching tights and shoes is killer chic, and makes your legs go on for days!

I really like this mix of black and brown. I think it's classy and plenty grown-up looking. I'm not sure when I'd be able to give up my colorful tights, but I'm sure the time will come some day and I'll know it then. I'm sure you'll know when it's time too!
