Look Book: Stripes & Peplum

Sep 7, 2012

Say hello to my new favourite top. I seriously can't believe it took me so long to jump on the peplum trend... and in stripes no less, double win!! Lately, I've been wearing & loving the look of pencil skirts - I'm foreseeing they'll be a major wardrobe staple of mine come this fall! It's such a fun silhouette to play with, and I'd love to add this one & this one to my wardrobe. Pretty darn cute, right?!
I used to shy away from pencil skirts a little because I felt like they were too reveling, showing off my every bulge. Gulp! But, I've been really disciplined with my diet and exercise plan this summer, read: super healthy, no starving here. In fact, I'm following the Weight Watchers program and it's been great, it's helped me loose those pesky 10 pounds. So... that's definitley helped me find some extra confidence for trying different looks. Yay! What's your take on pencil skirts?!
This week I've noticed a few leaves starting to hit the ground (I'm secretly getting excited!!) but our temperatures have continued feeling warm & summery. It's been heaven! Martin & I are still out gallivanting in our shorts and hanging on to the last of our summer days... barbequing delicious meals together, going for long windy forested drives (my fave) and watching the sunset from our patio. Hah, we're so predictable, right?! Hope your Friday is terrific, friends!!

  1. Oh my gosh that is so exciting that you have lost 10lbs. I need to loose about 5lbs but have seriously been slacking. You look so good!

  2. Yay for peplum! Of course you know I'm not really a trendy kind of girl but peplum is one of those "it" things that I just cannot get enough of. The silhouette is so flattering and feminine in blouses, skirts and dresses. Adding stripes - my favourite print! - definitely makes this a double win! I still have mixed feelings about pencil skirts myself, not because of what they show but because I simply haven't found one that really fits me well. Love yours, though. That pink shade is so perfect for a transitional look. Hope you're well, my friend!

  3. I haven't jumped on the peplum train yet either, though I really love how they look. I'm not quite sure what my deal is haha. And I love pencil skirts with bright colors- they add such a fun pop to looks. I think that they can be too revealing at times too (food babies) but they're totally needed when wearing things like peplums or baggy shirts. And yay for losing those last 10 pounds :))

I was on a diet for the majority of the summer (including working out) and lost 10 pounds as well, but I can't see the difference anymore. Soon I'll get back to it (I've been indulging again lately... argh!), just loved feeling healthy and fit.

Enough private diet talk... let's talk about the outfit! This look must be one of my favorites of yours, really, it's stunning and you are ROCKING that pencil skirt. Pretty pretty!

  54. Pencil skirts are a must-wear for every woman at every size. Done right, a great pencil skirt can give a woman some seriously amazing curves. It's one of my favorite silhouettes.

This is great on you! The texture of the skirt is such a great surprise. I have a peplum on the way {backorder, ugh}. We'll see how it works out. I'm skeptical.

hmmm, next time we get together i'm going to pick your brain about WW, i def need to get rid of some over abundance in the booty area, know what i mean. you look fantastic Veronika!

i've been off the grid for a bit now but am sure happy to be catching up here today :) between getting an end-of-summer cold and then vacating the premises to San Fran (the boyf & i finally had a real holiday-yah!), well things got a little hairy for any kind of blogging upkeep or visits.

  62. That skirt looks great on you! I'm personally not a huge fan of pencil skirts (because I'm petite only - it's hard to find one that's slimming and short enough so it don't look like it popped straight out of my grandma's closet)! Haha! This is a great look for the office too. Might have to try!
