Scenes From: A Night Of Pumpkin Carving...

Oct 21, 2011

I can't believe this was my first pumpkin carving -ever!! We had such an amazingly gorgeous day with golden leaves & so much fall sunshine; a perfect afternoon for picking out our pumpkin! I’m super excited to make this our new yearly tradition. And as for next year?! I’m dying to go to a pumpkin patch, complete with friends, yummy spiced drinks, and cider doughnuts! I hear they are amazing!
Did you notice that Martin is doing all the dirty work?! Haha, I was in charge of toasting up the pumpkin seeds, which were delicious. I used cinnamon, sugar and butter. Yum! I love creating fun traditions for us to enjoy as a couple; it keeps life fun & inspiring. And one day, I can’t wait to do it with our kids. What are some of your favourite fall traditions?!
Happy Friday & weekend, friends!
 xo

PS - I just did an interview with the lovely Kristina of "Something 2 Write About!" Be sure to pop by and say hi!!

  1. It looks like your first pumpkin carving experience was a huge success! Kudos to you for letting Martin do all of the dirty work while you supervised- you're a girl after my own heart :) I can't wait to see an ongoing series of your fall shots- I'm particularly intrigued by the possibility of cider donuts; I've never heard of such a thing, but they sound glorious! Hope this weekend sends some sun your way, Veronika. Sorry we won't see you tomorrow!

  36. I have never carved a pumpkin before either so you're doing better than me! Living in New Zealand Halloween isn't a very big thing here and also, it happens during our Spring not our Autumn so there isn't really the same supply of pumpkins around. And come to think of it, our pumpkins here are all a light greenish kind of colour on the outside, not bright orange! Weird.

  40. Aw! You too are such a cute couple! And trading the scooping of the guts for the toasting of the seeds sounds like an awesome trade! Remind me to start that tradition when I get married. ;-D

Ooh! Cinnamon sugar and butter topped pumkin seeds sounds delicious! I need to get my family to try that. We always just do salt and I never like them much... :-/

  41. Yay pumpkin carving!! So cute! By the way, I'm very impressed with your indoor photography... I'm getting nervous with winter coming because it's so hard to get a nice indoor shot... yours are great!!

  42. These pictures are so pretty and cute! It inspires me to carve a pumpkin as well. Unfortunately the beautiful fall weather is gone (and I even ordered beautiful birthday weather for myself today!), but the rain and grey sky make it so much more cozy inside.

    Have a good weekend! xo

  46. This looks like a fall evening well spent. I haven't properly carved a pumpkin in years, though I will cook with them and of course, toast seeds. I like the idea of doing a sweet version, I usually do salt.

  48. your first time carving pumpkins?! I'm glad you enjoyed it! It's quite a messy job and I hate the gooey, slimey insides so I usually just carve the design haha. Love that shot of it on your mantle, great photography! Happy fall!

  69. was that day on Sunday? i couldn't believe how the sun came out and our rainy greys hid far, far away!!! and Veronika, you did a smashing job for your 1st attempt, totally impressed on how you dug right in with exceptional accuracy. or Martin did, either way it's fab! pumpkin looks awesome....well they both do ; )

how absolutely sweet you all are huddling in the kitchen, not much mess either. when Sean & i go at it there's newspaper spread out all over and seeds are flying left and right. your immaculate display once again looks as though it was shot for a magazine and each shot is halloween season-filled with happy boosts!!! haven't heard of going sweet with the seed toasting before, gotta try that recipe out myself. ♥

pea ess: i'll def let you know when the next art show is, we'd love to have you two join us!!! and thanks for the wishes about Mylo, he's actually sitting right here next to me and looking rather intrigued with with Pumpkin. xoox
