Today I'm soaking in the sweet, sweet vibes of TGIF! Phew, this week, let me tell ya, I'm feelin' wiped! But all is well, we're planning on laying low & cleaning our apartment on Saturday then on Sunday we're off to explore a historic town in Sumas Mountain called Clayburn Village, which was the first "company town" in British Columbia. Excited! And as for today's outfit inspiration?! I've been on a real red nail-polish kick, am loving delicate stacking rings (Moorea Seal's shop has the prettiest ones) and I can never say no to a gorgeous Modcloth dress. The one below is my current fave and making it's way to my closet, oh-so-soon! On that note, happy weekend, friends! xo

Things I'm loving:

This nautical photo-shoot from Rebecca of A Clothes Horse.

Looking for a yummy pick me up? This Banana Espresso Smoothie is my new fave!

Swooning over these shoes and would totally rock them with a black vintage cocktail dress!

Love dresses with quirky prints and this one is SO darling!

For spring, I'd love to update our living room pillows and these Pottery Barn ones are perf.

Two words, pear & brie pizza. Yes, please!!

Playing this song on repeat, Flume & Chet Faker, Drop The Game!

Also, obsessed with Elsie's dining room wallpaper, oh hello dream home!

Cardigans And Dresses

Without a doubt, cardigans and dresses have always been a fave go-to of mine. But lately, when I've attempted this combo, it's felt a little foreign to me. However, this time it worked and felt very "me!" So, what made the difference? For starters, adding "quality" pieces like my boots and new Banana Republic cardigan definitely helped elevate the look, plus I chose to keep my outfit simple & not get too fussy with accessories. Sometimes, all you need is a few simple tweaks to make your outfit work!

And while we're on the topic of dresses?! I have several super pretty ones on my wishlist for this spring & summer! Like this floral maxi (I love the colours + a pop of coral lipstick would be perf), this structured plaid midi is so darling and would look great with a brightly coloured skinny belt, and lastly, you can never go wrong with a white dress, and this lace one, definitley has my vote!

Also, how darling is this flower shop?!! We visited our old neighbourhood a few weekends ago and this seemed like the perfect spot to nab outfit photos. Fun fact? I'm a crazy nut for historic towns and could spend all my days exploring them. In fact, it's my goal to see as many as possible this spring & summer, plus start a page on the blog where I can archive all of them. Well, on that note, happy hump day friends!!

Casual Outfits And Boyfriend Jeans

Oh hey friends! Great to be back with an outfit post and posting at my new URL! If you are a nosy gal like me? You can read what inspired the switch here! I'd also like to give a shout out to Fern Creative for the gorgeous & minimalist blog design (she was amazing to work with) and I'm certain it will serve me for years to come! I'm especially stoked with the full width instagram footer and can't wait to add a few more customization's in the next month or so!

So, style... let's jump right in! This year, especially, I feel like I'm ready to push my style and gain more clarity on what I love. When I comb my blog archives, it's clear, I've experimented a lot and broken up with my closet, a lot! But this year, I'm ready to be more true, and go with what feels right. Like, I know I'm a gal who loves flats and comfy boyfriend jeans (cause, hello, doughnuts) and if I were to come back as an item of clothing? It would definitley be as a hat! ;)

But silliness aside! When it comes to personal style? I believe we all know what we want, and love, when we're willing to trust our inner fashion voice. So what does that look like? Well for me, that means buying clothes that fit and feel comfortable (feeling restricted always throws my confidence) and shopping with clear vision and purpose. I also keenly watch for gaps in my closet, then pin items of interest to my wishlist and take time to think it over. What about you, friend? What are your best tips for a more "true to you" wardrobe?! xo

Oh Hey, Friend, You've Been Missed!

Guys... I'm not even sure where to start, I'm either part crazy, or I'm just a carefree gal who goes to the beat of her own drum. Let's assume the latter, yes?! ;) But here I am, 3 years later posting on "Girl & Closet" -- why the switch?! Well, back story goes a little something like this... 3 years ago, I was facing crippling health problems, and sadly, managing this space felt like too much work. So I started "By The Shore" which was centered around my healing, the west coast and sharing candid photos of everyday life. Basically, it was a no pressure zone, and a way for me to chill and continue to connect with the blogging community!

But, over the years as my health grew stronger, so did my passion for exploring & sharing personal style... and slowly "By The Shore" started morphing into "Girl & Closet" and in all honesty I started to miss the "Girl" who was on a quest to decode her closet! ;) Reflecting back, leaving this space was a difficult decision... in as little as a year, I was earning a full-time income and I poured my heart into all of it. In fact, when I launched a million moons ago, like a dork, I even wrote out a business plan & mission statement. Too funny thinking back! But, I will say, those early beginnings definitley gave me clarity, and as a result, this space has always felt very "me!"

With "By The Shore" I honestly had very little purpose, I knew I wanted breathing room to heal my health and take time to explore creativity. And oh boy, explore I did, I think I re-branded that blog like 15 times or something. Oh man! Anyways, enough of my blogging ramblings, let me close with this... creativity is about being open to exploration, if we don't explore, we don't grow. So whether it's your closet, or a hobby, don't be afraid to try it all, because what you'll find... is your happy middle! So with that, friends new & old, oh my, gosh, welcome back!! xo

PS - Also, wish me luck, I need to merge ALL my blog content, and work out the kinks! If you'd like to watch me lose my mind?! Fret not friend, just hop on over to snapchat: girlandcloset!
